Saab zou ooit voor GM dat luxe merk worden(boven) opel dat GM met opel niet kon bieden en daarom was de omega ook ten dode opgeschreven, maar GM komt met nieuwe omega:

Opel is close to adding a flagship vehicle to its lineup.
“We have not received approval from the [General Motors] board, but the business case is positive,” said Carl-Peter Forster, president of Opel parent General Motors Europe.
The car would be positioned above the upper-medium Signum station wagon, Opel’s most exclusive model, but below models from GM’s Cadillac brand.
Forster said Opel would have to sell 35,000 units to make a flagship vehicle a “credible business case.”
Opel has been discussing the possibility of adding a flagship model since 2003, when it retired its previous top-of-the-line model, the Omega.
Opel engineers have developed an Omega successor based on GM’s next-generation of mid-sized cars, known internally as Epsilon 2.
Earlier this year at the Detroit auto show, Forster hinted that an Opel flagship would share a vehicle platform with GM’s Saturn brand in the U.S.
“The alignment of Saturn and Opel is opening up totally new possibilities for us in the niche segments,” Forster said. “And a new, large Opel can also share a platform with Saturn.”
