Cool.. but excuse the skepticism here...

By 2007, Audi will have launched the new engines too.. ALREADY for over a year, the S4 has a V8 which has 340hp and the best 4 wheel drive train on the market as standard... so this 9-3 will need to be either :


1) Excellent or
2) Cheap or
3) Very innovative.

For people to take it over a 2007 S4.

And as the article says many of the go-faster bits will be borrowed from the 'hot' Vectra... which will no doubt be significantly cheaper.

Targeting the Impreza and Lancers would be a better move.

Not to mention that by 2007 the basic 9-3 will be five years old already... so what's the point?

Audi launches the A4 in 2001, then the Avant shortly thereafter and the S4 in 2003.

Saab should have launched the 9-3 in 2001, but for some reason it was delayed to late 2002. Then in 2005 they might get an estate, and in 2007 a 'hot' version may be on the cards...

And they sell 3 of these a year as they normally do, so... what is the point of having a V8 AWD for a price (allmost) nobody can afford?

Well you can blame BPM for that.. cos they sell pretty well in other markets... (i.e. the USA, UK, Germany etc..)
